Manvir Singh Arrested: Semi-Truck Driver Charged in Fatal Highway 99 Crash in Lodi

A fatal multi-vehicle crash on California State Route 99 near Harney Lane in Lodi has resulted in two deaths and the arrest of a semi-truck driver on multiple felony charges, according to authorities.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 12:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes when a semi-truck driven by 24-year-old Manvir Singh allegedly skidded off the highway, struck a guardrail, and became involved in a chain-reaction crash involving three other vehicles.

Investigators say two people died as a result of the collision. Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of family members. Additional individuals involved in the crash were not immediately detailed by officials.

Authorities also stated that Singh allegedly attempted to flee the scene following the crash but was later located and taken into custody. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail at approximately 6:35 p.m. the same day.

He faces charges including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run resulting in death. His bail has been set at $185,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court as the investigation continues.

All northbound lanes of Highway 99 were closed for several hours while emergency crews and investigators processed the scene, cleared debris, and reconstructed the sequence of events. The roadway was later reopened around 9:10 p.m.

Officials say the investigation remains ongoing as they review evidence, vehicle data, and witness statements to determine the full circumstances of the crash.
